Initially only a certificate was awarded, but during 1982 – 1994 a golden trophy based on Sport Billy was awarded along with the certificate. Now a days, the trophy has a figure of a footballer. The first country to win the Fair Play award was Peru in 1970 FIFA World Cup hosted in Mexico. Peru did not receive even a single yellow or red card during the tournament. Spain was the winner of Fair Play award in FIFA World Cup 2010 hosted in South Africa.
